TH0190

TH0190 – Some blank figures I was drawing while tabling. Artists go through a lot of phases of what they doodle to warm up or relax, I find. There used to be a time where drawing for fun, or not for a project seemed impossible, but I have to give Terminal Hair credit for sort of shaking that up and giving “little figures in dumb poses” a chance to colonize that space for me.

TH0185 – It’s kind of hard to tell with how I processed the scan, but I did these in black crayon (Staedtler Wax Twister, to be precise). I was struggling to draw the cover of Paleolithic in ink, all while imitating the textured line of pigment on stone wall + 30,000 years of aging. It looked a heck of a lot like crayon, though. It took me three pages of drawing my usual way to realize… I could just draw it in crayon and then I wouldn’t have to simulate any effects… because it would make the effects…

So in honor of that really painfully obvious observation, I draw cavemen doodles in Paleolithic books using crayon.
